On June 5th, 2011, through the Rite of Confirmation, we were blessed to witness eleven young people affirm the promises made to them in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. It is through baptism that God has publicly claimed each of these young people, renamed them as “Children of God,” and showered them with grace and forgiveness. These confirmands make public their intention to continue to live under these promises and join in the community of the Church to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
These youth have spent a great deal of time in the last three years learning about God’s unconditional love as presented in the Bible and through the creeds and prayers of the Church. Confirmation, however, is not "graduation." Instead, we celebrate reaching yet another milestone in the continuing journey of faith.
The congregation joined our confirmands on the patio for a reception after the 11:00 worship to celebrate this beginning of new opportunities to serve Jesus Christ through His Church.
