The faceted glass window adorning the east wall of our sanctuary reminds us of God's Abiding Presence. The descending dove has been the tradition symbolic representation for the spirit of God as He enters our lives. He breaks forth out of eternity (symbolized by the circle) to enter our life bringing His peace (symbolized by the olive branch).
Our Logo
Our logo on the exterior of the west wall of our sanctuary is a blending of the traditional symbol for a church, the cross of the Christ, with the symbol for the Spirit of God which abides with us always, the dove. It represents to us that God is present with His people in the fellowship of the Church. Both symbols were designed by Mrs. Madeline Haines Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
APLC Charter
Through the love of God the Father, Faith in Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit, we establish Abiding Presence Lutheran Church. This family of God is open to all who desire to grow in faith through Christ.
Together we are called to reflect God's presence in our lives through worship, learning, witness, service and support. In cooperation with the whole church, we will advance the kingdom of God in this community and throughout the world.
Mission
This family of God is open to all who desire to grow in faith through Christ. Together we are called to reflect God’s presence in our lives through our worship, learning, witness, service, and support. In cooperation with the whole church, we will advance the kingdom of God in this community and throughout the world.
Our Vision
We are passionately committed to achieving our mission as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Therefore:
We worship and praise God with joy and thanksgiving. We offer welcoming worship experiences and constantly explore new opportunities for worship and praise of God, while boldly and consistently proclaiming the Word of God. We pray, constantly seeking God’s will and guidance.
We actively learn and teach God’s word. We provide and participate in educational programs that strengthen our faith and increase understanding of how God would have us live. We develop and train teachers so that all can be taught according to their needs. We teach and nurture leadership so we become a congregation of ministers. We teach how to share God’s word with the world, and bring people to God.
We gladly witness and serve people in our congregation and throughout the world. We reach out to people in our church, our community, our places of work, our neighborhoods, and the world to share the good news of God’s love. We welcome all people into our fellowship and encourage them with our love and compassion. We identify practical and spiritual needs and provide programs so that all who are called may serve and all who are in need may be served.
We are a loving church family. We provide a church home that is a welcoming and safe environment for all. We offer fellowship opportunities for, and meet the needs of, all ages – especially our children and youth. We encourage and guide each other by sharing our experiences and by being living examples of God’s love.
We are faithful stewards. We identify, develop, and celebrate the wondrous gifts God gives us. As responsible stewards, we are committed to these gifts of time, talent, and other resources in the best way possible to do God’s will. We balance our own needs with the needs of the community and the world.
We enthusiastically advance the kingdom of God. We are a growing church of prepared disciples dedicated to carrying His word to the world. We anticipate future needs and provide staffing, support, and facilities as necessary to achieve our mission. We are active participants and passionate in our desire to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission.
These things we do with God’s help and for His honor and glory.
